Three-Sport Open Thread

The Bulls welcome home Captain Kirk, the Hawks travel to Nashville to play hockey for some reason, and Manny Pacquiao beats the living snot out of Antonio Margarito. I'll be sitting here commenting on all three, hopefully someone will join me later. If not I'll just talk to myself all night. That's cool too.

  1. Great job by Campbell keeping that one in the zone, and perfect setup for Skille. I like Skille a lot, I feel like he's getting to loose pucks the way Toews and Kane were last year. I know Conall and I have discussed his finishing skills, maybe this is a sign he's going to start picking it up.

  2. I hate seeing Kirk in another uniform. I get the point of the trade, but poor Kirk didn't deserve to be on a team this bad.

CJ Watson is sucking, Ronnie Brewer is playing pretty good so far. John Wall is awesome. JaVale McGee just posterized Korver.

Campbell got caught puck-watching for the Predators first goal. 1-1 in Nashville.

Jerry Jones is talking about how awesome Cowboy stadium is. I'm mad because Kelly Pavlick was supposed to be on this undercard, but got injured last week. I was really looking forward to that.

  3. I love how Taj Gibson is just beating everything in site right now. Between him and Derrick pushing the pace, the Bulls have an 8 point lead at the half.

Apparently I missed another Predator goal in the few minutes I was on the Bulls game. (What, the Hawks giving up 2 goals in the span of a few minutes? Shocker, I know.) But Stahlberg put in a nice wrister to tie it back up.

  4. I'd say we're officially seeing improvement in Skille's finishing skills. All he needs is to be beautifully set up by his teammates all the time. This time it was Dowell with the excellent pass.

If Jarome Iginlia puts up another fucking 0/0/-2/0/0 line tonight, I might be picking up Skille tomorrow.

  5. The first undercard is two guys name Rios and Lowther fighting absolutely terribly. Hopefully it's a quick knockout one way or the other. There's nothing worse than a bad undercard fight that goes the distance.

Lampley just said that Freddie Roach was going to ask to make Margarito shave his beard to reduce the extra padding, but Manny said not to, he wants to use it as a target. I can't wait for Manny to destroy this guy.

  6. I feel like when you have 1:22 of 5-on-3, you have to get more than 4 shots off.

  7. Everything I love about the Bulls in a nutshell: Rose takes 2 guys to the hole and makes a ridiculously sick switch hand layup, then Joakim denies Wall on the ensuing inbound and forces a timeout.

  8. Nashville's third goal was set up entirely by Duncan Keith winning a puck and then sending it right back to Nashville around the boards.

Or not, bailed out by Horndvquist thinking he was playing soccer for a second there. Still 3-2 Hawks.

  9. 3-3 for real now. It was inevitable the way the Hawks are playing right now. I feel like the puck has been in our zone for at least 8 of the first 10 minutes of this period.

At least the bulls are doing what they're supposed to, as long as we don't keep letting Gilbert heat up like this.

  10. That shootout was pitiful. As Pat Foley pointed out, all three goals went to Rinne's glove side, and not one of the three shooters tested him there in the shootout (it looked like maybe Sharp was trying to when he lost the puck, but still.)

  11. If Jones wants to get some bigger fights, he'll have to do better than that. That was quite an unimpressive majority decision.

Also, Margarito's camp is incredibly stupid to be putting things in his drink in front of the cameras. Even if it actually IS splenda.

  12. Manny came out strong, but Margarito is figuring out how to use the jab in round 2. I have it even after 2

  13. Manny is taking it to Margarito's right eye. I'm surprised he hasn't ended it yet.
