Bulls-Magic Open Thread

Wasn't going to do a post for this game, but Keith Bogans is on fire. I may have other thoughts on the game as well.

  1. Deng is standing around the arc like a statue. There have been a few times where his man has come over to help on Boozer, leaving the backside of the rim open, and he hasn't made a cut.

  2. Stacey's right: Dwight Howard developing a Tim Duncan-style 15 foot bank shot is a scary thought.

  3. That's not the kind of call that you usually see go against Kurt Thomas

  4. Kurt Thomas is not hitting the 18 footer, and not playing very good D on Howard. Time to try a little Turkish Delight on him.

  5. What a follow by Taj. Also, I wish I'd been counting the number of 3s the Magic have shot in the first 6 seconds of the shot clock so far.

  6. Kurt, you need to either play help D, or box Dwight out. None of the above is not an option.

  7. Hey, look, we're on Chicago time now!

  8. Derrick is off tonight. He looks like a guy who's recently had a stomach ulcer. TT would be wise to give CJ more time in the 2nd half.

  9. Bulls outrebounding the Magic 12-2 on the offensive glass is probably the only reason we're in this game right now.

  10. Wish I had known the NHL All-Star draft was going on right now. Just like the NHL to come up with a brilliant idea and then not tell anyone when it is. Ugh.

  11. We need Korver to get going. Keep driving and finding him.

  12. Not sure the small lineup is going to work against the Magic. Booze can't handle Howard one-on-one, and the Magic are built to make you pay for double teaming him.

  13. This is one of those games that would look very different with Joakim healthy. (although last time he was healthy when we lost to the Magic by 30, and he pulled down 0 rebounds, so maybe I'm completely wrong.)

  14. Deng is playing softball out there (softball=hanging around the perimeter and never going anywhere near the paint.) Put in JJ! Oh, wait...

  15. Know what I love? I have nothing to do this weekend, and the Winter X Games are on. That's a good combination. Along with a Devon Alexander fight tomorrow night and the NHL All-Star Game Sunday...

  16. Deng clearly read ChitownSports during halftime and realized he needed to wake up.

  17. At the end of quarters, once you're in the bonus anyway, I feel like it makes sense to put in Scalabrine to foul Howard if he gets down too low.

  18. Why would Omer come over for the screen there instead of leaving Derrick Isoed with Reddick? That was stupid.

  19. That might have been the best quarter the Bulls have played all year. Definitely the best quarter Lu has played all year.

  20. Oh, I take back the part about Derrick playing less in the 2nd half, too.

  21. I'm fine with hack-a-Howard from here on out.

  22. Good follow, Booze, but please call fouls when Derrick gets hacked.

  23. Things Kurt Thomas is good for: Getting in opposing players heads.

  24. Tonight is the epitome of the Good Lu/Bad Lu game. When Lu is going to the basket, like the entire 2nd half, he's good. When he's hanging out by the 3 point line, he's bad.

  25. Dwight is making way too many of his free throws right now. I don't like it.

  26. The more Howard abuses Kurt, the more you need Taj in there.

  27. Hedo must have had money on the Bulls tonight. He's been terrible.

  28. Fun with +/-, although this might change in the last 30 seconds: Lu and Asik, +17, Bogans +12. Flipside: Korver -11(???) Gilbert -16
